Psalm 5:12

"For surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield." Psalm 5:12

What do you think of when you think of being blessed by the Lord? Do you think of life going well? or good health? finances prospering or children who always obey?

I love the perspective this verse brings back to us. All of those other things are great, but what if we had none of them. Is the blessing of the Lord's favor enough for us?

The word favor here means "acceptance, pleasure, favor, will." Think about that. We are surrounded by the blessing of His acceptance, His will, and His pleasure in us. That is our blessing, and it surrounds us like a protective shield.

Is that enough for you? Of course, we know we should all answer yes. I want it to be enough for me, but how many times a day do I have to remind myself that it should be. That tells me that I don't believe it to my core.

O Lord Jesus, how we want your acceptance and your pleasure in us to be enough for us. How we want to live in belief that the favor you surround us with is far more than anything this world could ever have to offer us.

Turn our eyes to you, Jesus. Turn our eyes upon you. May we look into your face and care less and less about anything else. We love you!!
