Hebrews 4:14-16

"Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.

"For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.

"Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." Hebrews 4:14-16

What an awesome thing to think about. Our high priest, our intercessor - the one who pleads our case with the Father is one who has been tempted in everything we have. He just never fell for anything. He sympathizes with our weakness. He is "touched" by it.

As my oldest child approaches adolescents, I watch him struggle with so many things I've struggled with before. He often hides his struggles in shame. All the time I'm thinking, "If he only knew how much I understand. If he only knew how much I sympathize with him." I want to help him in his fight. I want to be his cheerleader. I want to lift him up in prayer. I hate to see him struggle, and I don't think any less of him because he does.

Friend, our Father in Heaven is that way with us. We can approach Him in confidence. Why?

1. He is on the throne.... Read More
2. His throne is a throne of grace.
3. When we approach his throne, we will receive mercy and grace.

I'm soakin' that in today. What about you?
