"I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me." Psalms 3:5
This verse kind of makes me laugh. To be relevant to moms with young children, it might say something more like. "I lie down and sleep; I wake again (and again and again and again) LOL!
But there are a few good points here:
1. We can sleep. David writes this in the middle of feeling surround by enemies. But He can sleep because the Lord sustains Him. We can too. No point on wasting the precious sleep time we have, laying awake worrying about stuff that we can't control.
2. We can wake again! Each day is new. We will survive it. Why? Because the Lord sustains us.
3. The Lord sustains is - the Hebrew "braces us up." Ever feel like that is just how you get through some days? Just braced up by the Lord? Its okay. He's there to do that. He considers it His job. Because of that, we can rest in Him and get up and go again.
