"He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me, and he prepares the way so that I may show him the salvation of God." Psalm 50:23
This verse challenges me to the core. As a mom, I feel that rarely anyone is ever grateful to me for what I do. So when someone shows me gratefulness, I want to do even more for them. I feel appreciated and am motivated to act in their behalf.
I believe that God has feelings. He shows His emotion throughout Scripture. I won't suggest that He acts like me...only wanting to help those who show gratefulness to Him. He is perfect. However, this verse makes it clear that there is a connection between our thankfulness and His coming through.
I love that God understands that thankfulness is sometimes actually a sacrificial offering. It isn't something we always feel or do naturally. God seems to love it when we make a sacrifice in our spirit to be thankful. I'm purposing today to prepare the way for His salvation by sacrificing thankfulness? What about you?
P.S.I'm off to register my oldest for 7th grade! Where does the time go?
