Job 29:4-5

"Oh for the days when I was in my prime, when God's intimate friendship blessed my house, when the Almighty was still with me and my children were around me." Job 29:4-5

I LOVE this verse! There is so much I love about it. Here is Job, in grief over his losses - and he bemoans the loss of the days his children were around him. After all he has lost, this is what he is in sorrow over, because he realized how precious his kids were.

But more than that, I love the other things we can glean from this verse. The Hebrew for "intimate friendship" means to have confidential talks and be in conspiracy with. "Prime" means the season of youth, when the crops are gathered. Job recognized that his time with his kids was a prime season - the season of his youth. He also recognized that during this season, he could have intimate friendship with God.

During our season of mothering young ones, we often have to depend on those confidential talks as our main connection with the Father. We can't always have 30 minutes in the word, but we can pour out our total confidences to Him moment by moment and trust Him with them.

Are you living like you are in your prime today?
