That Can Never Perish

"...that can never perish..."

never perish: imperishable, mortal, lasting forever, not capable of corruption or subject to deterioration

Wow! Can you imagine? The only thing better than being an heiress is knowing that it is forever. It isn't a fairy tail. It isn't something that will go away!

I love this part of the verse, because it has always been a central part of my testimony. You see, I've moved around my whole life. The only consistent thing in my life has been change. Over and over and over again, I've said goodbye to friends and started over in a strange place. I've sold off special things so that we didn't have to move them and set up house in a new, and unfamiliar place. Many of you identify.

The main thing that has gotten me through? Knowing that I had something that would never perish! My inheritance is forever! No one can take that away.

With the kids: Again, just as with "hope", I'm learning to put the value of eternity in front of my kids. What in life is more important? What is the only thing they are guaranteed to have forever?

Memorizing:

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!

In his great mercy he has given us new birth

into a living hope

through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

and into an inheritance

that can never perish,"

I Peter 1:3
