Into A Living Hope

"...He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead..." I Peter 1:3a

living hope: causing to live, inner psychological sense of hope, confidence, eager anticipation of the heart

Paul said he had this kind of hope in the resurrection (Acts 24:15). In Titus 1:2, Paul says that we have this hope because of our faith and knowledge of eternal life. We can hope because God doesn't lie! Our faith and hope can be in God because He raised Christ from the dead. (1 Peter 1:21)

So why do we have hope? When you think of hoping in God, what comes to your mind? The things God can/could do? or Who He is and what He has already done?

With the kids: Hard financial times have really caused me to have to adjust what I try to get my kids excited about. For a long time, pretty much whatever they "hope" we can do (go out to eat, go to the them park or a movie, etc), has been a "no." I used to say, "Someday!"...giving them hope that someday we can go and do it. One day, it hit me...maybe not! Maybe Jesus will come back tomorrow. Maybe we'll always struggle until He does. What should I be giving my kids hope for? We have the hope of heaven! ...the hope of eternity because of what Christ has done. That is our hope. Period.

Memorizing:

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!

In his great mercy he has given us new birth

into a living hope

through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead"

I Peter 1:3
