"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."
I was leaving the post office yesterday, when I passed an old beat up, yellow truck, pulling a trailer. It was a one-man landscaping business. The name on the side of the truck and trailer? Mowing for Jesus. I chuckled a bit. I kind of wondered if he was a fly-by-night swindler that through Jesus in his company name to try to get business from God-fearing little old ladies. But, hopefully, the scenario if more that he is a man who has come to understand the joy of Colossians 3:23-24. - a man who knows that no matter what he does, he does it for Jesus.
I don't think we can survive motherhood without that same attitude. Let's face it. So much of our days are consumed with tasks that most people wouldn't do if they were paid. But we do them out of love - love for our kids and love for the Lord who gave them to us. We could paint many things on the side of our minivans: Diapering for Jesus! Wiping Noses for Jesus! Staying up all night for Jesus!
What is the motivation? Besides doing it out of love for the Lord, we know that all rewards don't come at the end of the day. We have an eternal inheritance. That is our reward, and it is BIG!
