My Kingdom Go

"Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as
it is in heaven." - Matthew 6:10

I'm reading a great book right now called, Prayers of a God Chaser, by Tommy Tenney. Something I read today, has really stuck with me. I've been mulling it over in my mind and in my heart all day long.

"We have no right to pray, 'Thy kingdom come' until we've prayed 'My kingdom go.'" - Tommy Tenney

I can't tell you how often I start out focused on the kingdom of God, and end up back in the same prideful place of trying to build my own kingdom. I am such a "doer".....and I'm great at filling in the blanks for God. He casts a vision for me, and I often think it is my job to fill in the steps to getting there - and of course constructing an acceptable timeline.

I've been wrestling with some things today because God is convicting me that if I'm going to build His kingdom, there are some really cool things I'm going to have to let go of. They aren't "bad" things. They are just not profitable to His mission.

Ever been there? Is there anything you need to let go of, so that you can truly fulfill God's purpose for you?

Sometimes I have to ask myself if I'm really satisfied just building his kingdom. Honestly, my flesh would say, "NO!" What a place of pride. I'm asking God today to make me excited about my only purpose being His purposes for me and to take away any desire in me to build my own kingdom.

What about you?
