EV - Day 8 - While We Were Still Sinners

"At just the right time Christ died for ungodly people. He died for us when we had no power of our own. It is unusual for anyone to die for a godly person. Maybe someone would be willing to die for a good person. But here is how God has shown his love for us. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:6-8

IMG_0368 Yesterday, one of my four brothers got married. It was fun! It was beautiful! It was the fulfillment of a dream. :) Aren't they wonderful? I was thinking about the vows and promises they made. My brother, who has never been even slightly "cowboy" donned a white hat in the middle of his vows and sang a song that he wrote about how he promised to try to be "country" because she is a cowgirl at heart. He would do ANYTHING for her - and he would definitely die for her.

Most of us have those we know we would die for in an instant. We'd give our lives to protect those we love. But how many of us would put ourselves between a bus and a fugitive? I have to say that I'm not sure I would.

But that is exactly what Christ did for us on the cross. While the human race was still running in sin, before you and I were ever a glimmer in our parent's eyes, before we even knew how to sin and rebel, Christ died for us. He paid the price for people who did not yet love Him in return. Now that is love.
