John 21:21-22

"When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, "Lord - what about him?"

"If I want him to remain until I come," Jesus answered, "what is that to you?" John 21:21-22

If I had a dollar for everytime I heard, "What about him? That's not fair! He always gets off easy! I always get in trouble!"...well, I would be a wealthy woman. What about you? It has always been such a challenge to explain to my kids that being fair means I provide for each of their needs, not give them all the same thing.

In this passage, Jesus has just challenged Peter's love and commitment to Him. He has given Peter a glimpse of how hard his future might be. Peter's response?  What about him (pointing to John who is trailing behind.)? Jesus answers with the verses above.

How many times we're tempted as moms to compare our lives, families, jobs, homes with what someone else has or what they get to do....or even feel jilted about the calling God has on someone else's life.

I'm learning that part of trusting God is trusting that He really is meeting my every need - even if I think He is meeting someone else's better.

Is there anyone's life you'd rather have than your own? Spend some time today asking God to release you from the attitudes of jealousy, coveteousness, and envy. Ask Him what you are missing in your trust factor and to change your heart to be excited about His purpose for your life.

I'm right there with ya!
