You Must Master It!

"He who walks and lives uprightly and blamelessly, who works rightness and justice and speaks and thinks the truth in his heart," Psalm 15:2

Yes, you are right. We're back at the same verse again. :)

Blameless: to be complete, whole, without defect, faultless, blameless, sincere - especially toward God

Righteous (rightness): The essential meaning is unswerving adherence to the standard of fairness, The decisions of a judge are to be made according to the truth and without partiality.

I started reading through the Chronological Bible this month (shown at the left)....and felt that the Lord wanted me to share a verse from Genesis in here.

When Cain and Abel brought their sacrifices to the Lord, Cain's was not acceptable. This is what the Lord said to Him:

Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it." Genesis 4:6-7

Sometimes when I think of the word blameless, I picture that sweet little lamb without any faults. He hasn't really done anything. He just *is* blameless.

But the reality is, as humans, we have to be intentional about our character and our actions. Sin is waiting for us. It can't wait to conquer us. But we must master it.

There are so many ways that we can allow sin to creep into our home. It often doesn't start with something big. The devil is tricky. He starts by convincing you that something isn't "that bad."  It's a slow fade.

I've been doing some thinking this week about some things that I've allowed to slowly creep into my house. I'm praying you'll do the same.

With the kids: Ask them if they think there is anything in your house that doesn't honor Jesus. You might be surprised at their answers.

Memorizing:

"1LORD, WHO shall dwell [temporarily] in Your tabernacle? Who shall dwell [permanently] on Your holy hill?

2He who walks and lives uprightly and blamelessly, who works rightness and justice and speaks and thinks the truth in his heart,"  Psalm 15:1-2
